AIAG & VDA SPC-Handbuch

The AIAG-VDA SPC Manual was jointly developed by the American Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), with the participation of an international team of experts. The aim was to create a common international reference manual that can provide significant support to organizations. The manual harmonizes practices and guidelines for statistical process control (SPC).

The international team of experts analyzed the latest techniques and methodologies to most effectively support organizations in process optimization using SPC. Based on ISO and other international standards, the project group harmonized the reference manual, report templates, and technical nomenclature, taking into account changes in the approach to SPC techniques compared to previous versions.

The manual is consistent with relevant international standards, such as ISO 22514, ISO 3534, and IATF 16949.

However, the application of specific methods and terminology may vary depending on industry-specific requirements and organizational context. This manual covers most typical SPC application cases. It is not intended to limit the use of SPC to specific processes or to restrict the overall development of SPC methods.
